The Greeks believed that excellence could be attained with a balance between mind and body; through athletic ability, sought an impeccable physique, and through philosophy, science and the appreciation of the arts, cultivated the mind. This exhibition proposes an understanding of the competitive spirit in all aspects of the life of ancient Greece through a selection of treasures from the spectacular collection of the British Museum. Sculptures, coins, ceramics or jewels, with iconic pieces such as the frieze of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, depicting the battle between the Greeks and the Amazons, a marble bust of Euripides, one of the three great poets of Greek tragedy, or statue of the Vaison Diadum, a marble sculpture of an athlete tying a ribbon on his head as a mark of his victory. Admission: €4 (free for CaixaBank customers).
