Mireia Freixa, Professor of History of Art at Barcelona University, will be talking about this binomial with her dissertation. Art Nouveau was an artistic renewal of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that was born with the intention of creating a new, young, free and modern art, breaking with the dominant styles of the time. In Catalonia, Art Nouveau was much more than an artistic movement, becoming deeply rooted in society and politics. Domènech i Montaner was a leading exponent of the movement, a total architect whose works were more than just architecture. Free admission.
