Barcelona has launched the Barcelona Science Plan with the aim of bolstering the city as a European capital of science. It aims to create a favourable environment for the research and technology centres, universities, and entrepreneurial and productive fabric of the city to deploy innovative solutions that lead to improving living conditions in the city in a way that benefits all citizens. This year, Barcelona City Council and La Caixa are allocating a total of €900,000 to promote projects that revolve around two thematic areas: (1) ageing and quality of life, and (2) mobility and respect for and protection of the environment, as a way of contributing to the modernisation of the city of Barcelona, within the framework of the sustainable development objectives (ODS), which guide the implementation of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
