Classical mythology has been a constant source of inspiration for artists. In it gods, heroes, nymphs, satyrs and maenads are mixed in stories full of human vices and virtues. This exhibition brings together a careful selection of works that are part of the collections of the Museo Nacional del Prado. Through paintings, sculptures and medals – dated between the 1st century BC and the end of the eighteenth century – offers a broad look at classical mythology and its representation throughout the history of art.
