The ancient Assyrian, Babylonian, Phoenician and Persian empires had in common with Alexander the Great the purpose and the greed to extend their power beyond their own limits. These empires occupied an area between the current Spain and India, and formed a corridor of communication and an area of indispensable passage between the Mediterranean world and Asia. These territories were the scene of incessant struggles, conquests and looting of all kinds, but also of an intense trade of raw materials, precious metals and manufactured objects. Of all this, we have a reliable witness in the exceptional quality and refinement of the luxury objects acquired by the elites over hundreds of years. The beautiful collection of fascinating objects that this exhibition collects comes from the British Museum. The exhibition makes an extensive tour of the production, variety and value of these precious objects, from 900 to 300 a.C. Admission: €5 (free for CaixaBank customers).
