Thanks to space telescopes, stellar seismic activity has been measured with great precision for about two decades. Seismic waves propagating inside stars act as a unique probe of their physical conditions and chemical composition. Asteroseismology is an extraordinary tool for determining the size, mass, and age of stars, as well as for dating stars that host exoplanets or studying massive, rapidly rotating stars. Furthermore, it opens new possibilities for identifying star systems that could harbor conditions conducive to life on other worlds. In this talk, Conny Aerts, winner of the 2022 Kavli Prize and the 2024 Crafoord Prize, and a leading figure in this field, will share how asteroseismology has revolutionized our understanding of the inner workings of stars. Moderated by Ignasi Ribas, PhD in Physics, research professor at the Institute of Space Sciences of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and researcher at the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC).
