L’Alternativa, the Barcelona Independent Film Festival, is back, reaffirming its commitment to independent creativity with a programme that seeks to balance experimental cinema, aesthetic research and social commitments, and which remains faithful to the ongoing monitoring and support of filmmakers who have been part of the festival in previous editions. Thus, many filmmakers return with their new works, sharing space with emerging talents. A good part of these titles will have their premiere in Catalonia at the festival, which has three official competitive sections: International Feature Films, International Short Films and Spanish Films. Different venues in the city of Barcelona will host the screenings and parallel activities and a selection of the programme will be available on the online platform Filmin for a limited time (from January 20 to February 2, 2025).
