Colita. Antifémina

The exhibition highlights the value of a project launched by photographer Isabel Steva Hernández, better known by her pseudonym Colita, and writer Maria Aurèlia Capmany, who joined forces in 1977 to create what is considered the first openly feminist graphic novel of the Transition era: Antifémina. Although the publisher quickly withdrew it from the market, the work became a cult classic, critical and politically charged. Years later, Colita herself and Francesc Polop, director of her Archive and curator of the exhibition, revived the project, and the book was reissued and published in 2021 by Terranova and the Barcelona City Council. The exhibition reaffirms the enduring relevance of the book’s denunciations and reflections, and through it, the figures of two intellectual and courageous women who fought to dignify womanhood and to speak openly about feminism. Admission: €6 (reduced: €4).
